sharing data among users
The current cc-Modeler Professional release (V2.0) is
single-user. This means that multiple users cannot concurrently work on and
update a central database.
However there are several ways to share data among staff,
depending on what you are trying to achieve -
-
1. If you want to share selected
data (e.g. a particular Day) with other users on a 'read only' basis, use
the 'Data Export' menu to paste the data into a spreadsheet. Then
distribute the spreadsheet. (You can also paste one or more of the graphs
into the spreadsheet)
-
2. If one person simply wants to
compare their own data with that of another user, get the other user to
send them a copy of the database (ccMP.dat) and create another cc-Modeler
environment (complete) in a separate folder on their PC with that database
e.g. 'Jill Data' and 'Jack Data'. See also: Creating a
second copy
-
If you want to have multiple people working on one set of
data, create a 'master' database in a network shared folder. Each user
then needs to copy that to themselves (typically to c:\program files\cc-modeler\ccMP.dat),
update it and copy it back. Important: In this case you need to
implement a process for all users to follow so that the central repository
always has the latest copy of the database.
to create two copies of cc-modeler
on a pc
 |
Create a new folder e.g.
'c:\cc-Modeler Jill' |
 |
Copy the contents of the
original cc-Modeler folder (usually 'c:\program files\cc-Modeler') to
'c':\cc-Modeler Jill' |
 |
Copy the second database to
'c:\cc-Modeler Jill\ccMP.dat' (overwriting the original) |
 |
Create a desktop shortcut to
the second folder. To do this, go to the folder in Windows Explorer and
click the right mouse on cc-ModelerPro.exe. Select 'Copy' from the popup
menu. Then go back to the desktop, clck the right mouse button and
select 'Paste Shortcut' from the popup menu. |
Note: Having multiple cc-Modeler copies on the same
PC as it is licensed for does comply with cc-Modeler's licensing terms.
